Beauregard sweet potatoes are known for their light rose skin that fades slightly in storage and their moderately deep orange flesh. With a maturity of 90-100 days, you’ll be harvesting your own sweet potatoes in no time. They are an outstanding variety accepted by farmers everywhere and are likely the variety available in your local market. These sweet potato slips are non-GMO and chemical-free, ensuring a healthy and natural harvest.
Our Beauregard sweet potato slips exhibit intermediate to resistant traits against soil rot, fusarium wilt, rhizopus soft rot, and fusarium root rot. However, they are very susceptible to root knot and susceptible to bacterial root rot and intermediate to sclerotial blight. These slips are released by Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station.
Planting and Care Instructions: Upon arrival, your slips may appear dry and wilted; this is normal after transit. Unwrap them and place them in a cup of water to rehydrate for a couple of days. If minimal root growth is present, leave them in water for at least a week until new roots form. Change the water daily, adding a little hydrogen peroxide and/or rooting hormone to aid the rooting process. Place the cup in a sunny window to acclimate them to full sun.
When the slips have recovered, plant them in loose, well-drained soil as deep as the first set of leaves. Water them well after planting. If not hardened off, provide shade for at least one week until established. Keep them well-watered and avoid letting them dry out. Enjoy the process of growing your own delicious and nutritious Beauregard sweet potatoes!
